Well this is it. Finals are next week, and AP psych is sadly coming to an end. Let's reflect upon all the wonderful memories of first semester.
What I like about AP psych:
is that ap psych really knows how to excite. it goes up down turn around really really blows my mind. aha. if you didn't realize, I was trying to copy a song with that.... yay for my acoustic memory! =) I really enjoyed the section on sleep. I always thought I slept at funny times because I would 'nap' after dinner wake up at 12 then go back to sleep at like 1. I guess I was just optimizing my sleeping time. Before Thanksgiving break, I really like watching Sybil. It was so good =) THIS BLOG IS FUN TOO! playing around on the psych websites - taking the IQ test! haha :D
And then I remember my favorite project and then I don't feel so bad:
I would have to say my favorite project was making the motivational video for next year's class! =) go ap psych! My group members and I tried to be really creative and got our inspiration from PHINEAS AND FERB! woot =) I wonder whose we will see on the VEN >.<
What I didn't like about the class:
Lots of notes, interesting notes, but my hand would tire from writing so much xD I also didn't like the noisy people >.< because it was hard to hear and it annoyed me.
To leave out or not to leave out:
I thought everything was important. Don't leave out anything! =)
IDEAS FOR NEXT YEAR:
Maybe you could set aside some time to watch the motivational videos! =)
FINALS NEXT WEEK >.<;
can you go over the different learning perspectives?!?
Next year, instead of AP psych for second period, I will be having AP Eco!! so yay, I still get to have Mrs. Halfen as my teacher. Kudos to that.
farwell class members of ap psych second period! <3 =)

Lateral Puzzle IQ Test
I got higher than expected 7/10 It might be because I guessed on the reasons for some of the questions. I would get the question right but for the wrong reason.
Number Correct IQ and Percentile
0-1 IQ 0 - IQ 90 / 0-25
2-3 IQ 90 - IQ 110/25-75
4 IQ 110 - IQ 130/75-98
5 IQ 130 - IQ 138/98-99
6-7 IQ 138 - IQ 150/99-99.9
8-10 IQ 150+/99.9+
Brain bashers:
this website is fun! the first thing I went to was the optical illusions page. most of them made my eyes hurt though =/ I also went to the 3-d seeing eye page where you put your face super close to the screen and gardually move away in order to see a picture... sadly I couldn't get it to work. It was probably because it was on the computer and not on acutal paper. There was also this random page called a million clicks. It was basically how long someone would just sit there and click this button until it has been clicked a million times. I clicked it about 100 times just for fun xD Look at the picture first....... did you notice that there are two "the's"?!?! my sister and I both didn't notice. gaah! so weird xD
LUMOSITY!
haha this site has a lot of cool games. I chose the memory game where you have to click which squares had the dots previously in them. I could only get to 10 >.< there was also the "does this look like the previous picture" game. At first I was pretty bad at it and kept getting Xs, but after a while, I got the hang of it and performed much better. so yay =)
the handwriting article is interesting. it seems true enough. Whenever I try to learn something, I write it down. For example, for learning vocab, I made flashcards so that I could write the words and definitions. Sometimes I would rewrite the word over and over again. Writing also helps to learn physics equations xD I wonder if having many different types of handwriting affects the brain's learning capabilities also? I guess it is still different shapes... if you can call letters that? haha. I have so many different handwritings like the my hand hurts from writing handwriting aha.
>.< Narcoloepsy sounds really dangerous and scary. I'm so glad I don't have it. Not being able to see or move or talk while still being conscious would really freak me out. Plus I don't think I'd be able to live my life normally because I'd be too scared to go anywhere for fear of collapsing. I applaud her.

The Power of Technology :D and Food Phobia?!?
Let's see. I've always had a hard time trying to come up with something to write about if I'm not given a certain topic....
ooo. This reminds me about my college essay topic I chose for my english class last year.
With all the Facebook messaging and texting and other communication devices, it feels as if we are getting less personal with one another. It's easier to lie to one another. Furthermore, because of all the internet dating webistes and twitter postings, Cyberbullying and Gossipping (that word looks funny) came about. And as I've learned from the Manciple's tale (aha from the Canterbury Tales! :D) Gossipping, whether it is the true or false, is still bad. HOWEVER these devices have made it easier to talk to distant peoples. yay for that! =) like in How I Met Your Mother, webcamming allows Marshall to eat with his family every Sunday. Depending on how it is used, technology can cause personal ties to be strengthened or weakened. Hopefully we find technology to be helpful rather than hurtful! :D
aha. another topic! I'm not sure if I would really call this a phobia; I think it's more like a super picky eater. If it is a phobia, I guess I probably have this! xD

Veal Tongue. kind of looks like a piece of steak. lovely isn't it? |
I'm a very picky eater - like this person, I would most likely pick out the peas, unless I was being lazy and didn't want to take the time to pick them out ... like in fried rice or something. Furthermore, I wouldn't really want to eat intestines, toungue, something still alive, other vital animal organs....sounds like something from FEAR FACTOR! haha. I've heard the saying "you won't know if you like it until you try it" far too many times, but I still wouldn't want to try these things. I'm not that much of an experimenter. I do like to eat pig ear though.... xD

IQ Test!
- Over 140 - Genius or almost genius
- 120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence .... yay =D
- 110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
- 90 - 109 - Average or normal intelligence
- 80 - 89 - Dullness
- 70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency in intelligence
- Under 70 - Feeble-mindedness
I did not think my IQ would be as high as this. I am usually quite confused by these tests. During the test, I kept turning my head funnily (is that a word?) and using my hands to picture the pictures? better (like with the left/right parts) haha. With the analogy section, I did not know some of the words. HOWEVER even with all of these interesting questions, overall, I thought the test was a lot of fun! =) and I'm happy to know that even with my absentmindedness, especially with directions, I've still got something up in my brain other than air. yay! the reason I got a higher score than I probably should have gotten was probably because I took nearly the whole class instead of 30 minutes to take the test >.< woops!
--------------------------------------------------------------
(before reading: I hope not because I'm the youngest in my family! >.<') Time for the summary!
A 1973 cross-sectional study by Lillian Belmont and Francis Marolla found that the larger the family size, the poorer the performance on the intelligence test. Furthermore, basing off of the scores of the children, the first born children > the second born children > the thrid born children .... Because this study was cross-sectional, the studying of information among different families, it is seen that the first born children had higher IQs. However, in a logitudinal sutdy, the studying of an individual family over time, it is seen that there is not a relationship between the two. Due to the differences in these two studies, the Admixture Hypothesis was formed which links IQ to other factors such as parental IQ and socioeconomic status; low IQ parents tend to have more children. However, the problem with this hypothesis is that the mean IQ score is increasing instead of decreasing. In more models, reasons to explain why the firstborn has a higher IQ are listed: primogeniture, parents focus attention on first-born, treated like an adult, and tutors the younger siblings. (Don't worry if you're a later born child though!) Through recent studies, the IQ differences between the siblings has been very small, so it is not too big of a deal! =)

Personality Tests!
Jung Typology Test:
In this test, I answered yes/no to several statements and found out that ... I am an ISTJ personality; this means that I a have a very introvert, slightly sensing, and moderatley thinking and judging personality. I think this test is pretty valid; I find myself to be pretty introvert, and it also says, as an inspector, I am superdependable - I'm happy about that. I don't think the career choices were valid though, I don't really want to be dentist, repair, or military person.
Are you racist test?
In this test, I had to place pictures or words in right or left categories. "Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for European American compared to African American." I guess I am a little racist even though I try not to be; this makes me a little sad. I don't think this test is valid, though because I am sure that all of us have a little racism in us due to past experiences or from what we've been told through family or entertainment sources. I don't think you can label someone as racist just through grouping items.
EQ Test (emotional intelligence test)
I rated several emotional? statemets and scored a 42 on the test. I'm not quite sure what this means, but in the information section it seems pretty accurate: sensitive to others' emotions, fixed on getting the job done, needs to work on self-emotions. I think this test is valid, but it could be even more valid if it had more questions. I guess I need to go work on my sensitivity!
Hogwarts Sorting Quiz =D
In this quiz, I rated several statements on a scale of 1-9 based on my characterisics. I was put in Hufflepuff; the next choices in order were Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and then Gryffindor. I was very surprised at this: I thought I would be in Ravenclaw or Syltherin (they were my second and third places though!) yay! Cedric was in this house, and he's cool. I'm not quite sure with the validity of this test because it seems like everyone would try to come out as a Hufflepuff: friendly, fair-minded, modest, and hardworking and not rate themselves correctly.
My Life Goals:
In this quiz, I had to rate certain statements on a scale, and agree/disagree with certain statements. My answers were divided into six categories: Financial Success, Social Recognition, Attractiveness, Affiliation, Community Involvment, and Self-Acceptance which were divdided into intrinsic and extrinsic categories. My results seemed about right: I value financial success, afflilation, community involvment, and self-acceptance whereas I don't really prioritize social recognition and attractiveness. I was surprised to see that I prioritze intrinsic values over extrinsic values though. This test seems valid because it asked a wide variety of questions and the results seem pretty accurate.

My Life Story :D
Hey there. How's it going? Well, if you are looking for something fun to do, read my life story! haha. just kidding. It is not really that amazing ... Anyways. I was born in April and raised in Texas. I have grown up here all my life, and yet, I still do not know my way around; I am terrible with directions, so never ask me for directions on how to get somewhere because I will just respond with my oh snap I really should know this by now face.
I do not recall my earliest memory, but from stories I have heard from my parents, I was a quiet baby who drooled a whole lot, slept in my rocking crib seat thing, and barely ate because they forgot to feed me sometimes.
I went to a private preschool because I was not allowed to go to the public one. I remember making fossils and the gravel under the swing set I would play on every day. A year later I went to Elementary School ... hands down the BEST one in the world :) I am still friends with some of my Elementary school friends =) they are awesome! and so much fun. I remember the popcorn parties on Fridays, Field Days, RECESS! the school plays and the Christmas performances and all the holiday parties. When my sisters were in Middle/High School, I remember not wanting to go to bed. Man, I regret that. How I like to sleep. =) gaah. I miss those years.
Next up was middle school... and well, middle school is middle school... not much to say there.
Now I am in High School, ready to embark on my own journey... not really. I am so terrible at making decisions. I have no idea where I want to go to school. So far I have been making applications to UH UT Harvard and some other schools. I have been touring a whole lot, though. No idea what I want to be. Mabe something in Pharmacy or Geology or Business. Yea. That's me narrowing it down.
Okay. so that was my school life. Now a little about me? outside of school.
VACATIONS woot. I love the summer. My family goes on a vacation every year to different places, but we tend to stay in America. I have never gone to Europe or Asia or that side of the world. I wouldn't mind going to Antarctica! :D I LOVE birds: penguins and ducks! I do not really remember when I started to like them. For some reason, I love Canada! The three times I have been there, I have loved it. It's probably the super nice weather. I go to my Grandma's house every Christmas. Sadly, the snow comes after we leave =(
Growing up, I was really social as a elementary school kid. I have no idea what I talked about. When I hit middle school, I lost my socialness. I was very shy and opened up only to those who tried really hard to get to know me. Looking back now, I see myself as a bit of a loner. I don't really go over to anyone's houses. The first time I went to someone's house for fun was probably in my 9th grade year after exams were over. My friends house is only a few doors down. I've been trying to change my awkward socialness... I don't really know what to call it - maybe introvertedness? That's why I am in Office Aide because I find it really hard to walk in a classroom, say hi to a teacher I might not know, and hand them a pass during the middle of a class full of other students. My voice tends to get really high when I talk to people I don't know that well. I think I've been getting better at it though, so yay =)
adding some stuff here: okay so marriage. wow. uhm I hope I can find someone! I want to get married at age 27 or 28. Have two or three kids, first a boy, then a girl, then another boy or a girl. I just want my younger kids to have an older brother because I've always wanted an older brother. I don't know, they just seem like a good sibling to have. I have no idea what I would name my kids. I'm hoping it'll just come to me and be perfect.
retirement? WELL lets just say, I'm a bit lazy. If I find something I enjoy, I may work until forever. Otherwise, after I get married, I may just 'retire' and become a full time homemaker! I want to go support my kids in their activities and volunteer a whole lot at their schools.
When I die, I hope I had lived the life I wanted to live so that I can die without regrets. I want to travel, get married, have a nice house =D have kids, maybe learn how to bake anything other than my dry muffins that were supposed to be cupcakes. Hopefully I won't die for a long time though, maybe after my third child gave me some grandkids. =)
ANYWAYS... wow that was a really long blog... hope it didn't bore you too much. so if you got to the end of this, CONGRATS! and THANK YOU for taking time out of your busy life to read my blog. =) byebye.
